DESCRIPTION:Bovenbouw explore the possibility of an inclusive and diverse practice that combines a high responsivity to circumstances with a firm view on how buildings can relate to their surroundings. \nBovenbouw has a diverse portfolio including many public buildings\, heritage projects\, reconversions\, scenographies\, speculative research and housing developments. \nThe office of Bovenbouw was founded in 2011 and is led by Dirk Somers and is organized in 2 teams of each 8 talented and internationally recruited architects. \n  \nThe office has exhibited work on many occasions like the Venice and Sao Paulo Biennale\, and in cultural institutions in London\, Antwerp\, Gent\, Brussels\, Aachen\, Frankfurt\, München and Riga. The work of Bovenbouw has been nominated twice for the EU Mies Awards. \n  \nIn 2019 Bovenbouw held its first solo exhibition in the Flemish Architecture Institute in Antwerp. The office’s  first monograph‘Living the Exotic Everyday’was awarded the DAM architectural book Award 2019 by the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt.
